JOSÉ EULOGIO GÁRATE ORMAECHEA

El Ingeniero del Área is one of the best Spanish center forwards of the '60s and '70s, but also a gentleman in a very tough style of football. He is a respected opponent not only for his effectiveness in front of the opposing goal, but because he never gives up on a ball for lost, no matter how many hard tackles he takes. He stands out for his technique, his headers, and his runs from the left wing, with dribbling and unpredictable changes of pace. He wins the Pichichi award in three league seasons (1969, 1970, and 1971), although the award is always shared. A knee injury forces him out of football prematurely, but he leaves behind the memory of a complete forward for all fans: his own and rivals alike.
