DIEGO FORLÁN

Signed from Villarreal CF to replace Torres, Forlán soon formed a formidable partnership with the *Kun* Agüero, an attacking duo brimming with talent, movement and versatility whose qualities complemented each other perfectly, with the Argentine playing a more advanced role and the Uruguayan dropping deeper to make the most of his fearsome long-range shooting. Although not naturally ambidextrous, Forlán was equally assured with both feet, thanks in part to the advice he received from his father, former footballer Pablo Forlán. His finest spell spanned two seasons, between 2008 and 2010, during which he completed a remarkable run of success, winning the Pichichi Trophy, the European Golden Shoe, the Europa League, the Golden Ball at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and the UEFA Super Cup.
