ENRIQUE COLLAR

The first Niño in Atlético’s history was a fast and skilful left winger who, for many seasons, terrorised opposing defences. Especially alongside his on-field partner Joaquín Peiró, with whom he formed El Ala Infernal (“The Infernal Wing”), Atlético de Madrid’s main attacking outlet during the early 1960s. His runs inside, changes of direction, dribbles and shooting became part of the club’s folklore and of Spanish football’s collective memory. He is regarded as one of the greatest wingers in the history of the game.
